Las entrevistas se realizaron a los pilotos, el segundo oficial -que era el hombre de guardia en el momento del accidente-, as\u00ed como personal de la Guardia Costera de EE. UU, seg\u00fan inform\u00f3 la presidenta de la Junta Nacional de Seguridad en el Transporte de Estados Unidos (NTSB, por su sigla en ingl\u00e9s), Jennifer Homendy, a la Comisi\u00f3n de Comercio, Ciencia y Transporte del Senado estadounidense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La NTSB descarg\u00f3 el registro de datos de navegaci\u00f3n y&nbsp; encarg\u00f3 al fabricante de los equipos de la sala de m\u00e1quinas&nbsp; \u201cque examine detenidamente el funcionamiento del sistema de energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica&#8221;, detall\u00f3 Homendy. La NTSB tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 examinando los disyuntores del sistema el\u00e9ctrico e inspeccion\u00f3 el combustible a bordo del buque. Seg\u00fan Homendy, &#8220;Todav\u00eda estamos recogiendo informaci\u00f3n en el lugar de los hechos. Tenemos mucho trabajo por delante&#8221;, afirm\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Antecedentes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un v\u00eddeo del buque siniestrado mostraba sus luces encendi\u00e9ndose y apag\u00e1ndose en los momentos previos al impacto. En respuesta a una pregunta del senador Ted Cruz, Homendy dijo que cre\u00eda que eso estaba relacionado con el incidente. Los investigadores est\u00e1n trabajando con Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., que seg\u00fan Homendy fabric\u00f3 el equipo de la sala de m\u00e1quinas que se est\u00e1 examinando, para obtener m\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, se est\u00e1 analizando el combustible del buque para determinar si ha influido en el accidente, seg\u00fan declar\u00f3 Homendy a la prensa tras la audiencia. El combustible contaminado de los buques ha provocado fallos graves y a veces completos en los motores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La NTSB ha investigado muchos choques contra puentes en el pasado y a principios de la d\u00e9cada de 1980 emiti\u00f3 recomendaciones a la Guardia Costera de Estados Unidos para evaluar la protecci\u00f3n de los pilares de los puentes, entre otras cosas, dijo Homendy. En aquel momento, los guardacostas dijeron que no ten\u00edan autoridad para hacerlo, explic\u00f3.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Todav\u00eda hay que tomar medidas&#8221;, a\u00f1adi\u00f3 Homendy, quien a\u00f1adi\u00f3 que \u201cen las d\u00e9cadas transcurridas desde entonces, el transporte fluvial ha cambiado, incluyendo la operaci\u00f3n\u00a0 de portacontenedores de mayor tama\u00f1o\u201d.
